okay, so the past few weeks have been nothing but a complete roller coaster for me and the art show.
i was real excited to enter into it. you enter in four photos for the first round of jury. three of my photos made it through that round! THEN we have to get our photos matted, framed... etc. i took my three photos to michael's arts & crafts. thinking that they would come back nothing but fabulous. oh boy, was i wrong or what? two of my photos (let me add that they were my two favorites) had huge indentations on them and how they matted it was awful. i could've done better. i am still in complete awe by how bad of a job they did. when i heard the news how bad they were, i broke out into tears (alligator tears). my heart sunk. when i saw them, my heart sunk even deeper. i thought right then my chances of even making it through the final jury was completely out the door. the lamest part of all, i had no time to get my photos printed and matted again. my photos were due the next day! i only had hope that some sort of miracle would happen. seriously. but my mom's friend, who is an amazing artist, came by to see the damage michael's did to my photos. she was able to help me with the matting and make it look presentable. so i turned in my three photos with absolutely no hope. i think i shed plenty of tears.
this past week has been nothing but filled with anxiety. there have been a few tears and moments when my heart sunk.
i absolutely love photography. it is what i love to do. it is my getaway. it is my therapy. it is where i release my feelings. it is what i am passionate about. and it killed me to think that not one my photos would make it through.
well this morning i woke up not even wanting to get out of bed. i just wanted to know for a fact where my photos ended up. i had a full-on stomach ache ALL day. ahh stress was taking over.
i finally got the courage and headed over the awards reception with my mom.
we walked into the art show.... and there was my BENCH PHOTO! oh my gosh. i was so excited. i felt like the weight of the world just lifted off my shoulders. i didn't need any awards. i just wanted to have at least one photo in there.
but it gets better, i was talking to a friend in my class, and she heard that over 600 art pieces were entered.. crazy! BUT there was only around 150 pieces that actually made it through to the actual art show. i am not going to lie, but i am so excited.
