Sister Johnson...

 Today was such an honor.  I was able to shoot my best friend's mission photos.

She is such an amazing girl. I don't know what I would do without her. 

She's held my hand through everything. 

She leaves to serve the wonderful people in Nashville in just a couple of short weeks. She will be so loved there.

She will do such an amazing job. 

When I found out that she turned her papers in, I cried to my mom. It will be so bittersweet to me. But mostly sweet, she will be an amazing missionary. Hands down!

Well, I love ya Natalie! You've been the best of friend any one could ever ask for.

Keep your smiles contagious, most of all, keep shining.

accidents are good...

Throughout all of my photography courses.. I've been told accidents are usually good things. Well hey, I like to use this one as my example of an accident turning out fabulous.

 We can only shoot in manual for class. Thank goodness for manual.

My boyfriend and I sat in my basement trying to get these shots of a 'ball of flame' thing.. we sat there for two hours trying to figure it out. My bum killed afterwards.. haha. 

This shot made me super stoked. I was figuring out my exposure and the image in focus.. 

hey I think it turned out pretty sweet.

i never have played too much with photoshop... intimidates the crap outta me.

(at least i'm taking a photoshop class for photographers next semester)

hooray! semester almost done!

design...

fall semester is coming to an end! i love the photography program that i am in. sometimes the random required classes are a pain. but they are interesting and learn a lot about art.  in my design class we have to make a self portrait. being in photography... kinda funny that i find it so awkward to take photos of myself. i dunno. weird. anyway.. i decided to work with double exposures. this is just a rough of one. supposed to have two. we'll see how it turns out....... check out my rough!!

so thanksgiving is like less that 48 hours away. 

i am grateful for photography!

and especially that i am able to go to school for it and learn everything about it.

at the end of the day, i love to put my head on my pillow and feel so grateful for many of the things that i have.

#1: this place. the temple. i cannot wait for the day when i can finally enter! just walking on the temple grounds, you can always feel the spirit so strong and confirms to me every time, that that's where i want to be.

#2: this hooligan. aka greg! and the best thing that has ever happened in my life. i am so grateful for him. he has made me a stronger person. not only that, but he has changed my life! i know that i can always go to him and he'll always be there for me. i couldn't ask for a better boyfriend. i love you!

#3: being this boys aunt! i never knew that i could love a little boy so much. and he isn't even my own child. being an aunt has made me so excited for my own children.  i can't wait for the day til i can be a mom! not only that, but this little boy always brightens up my day! easily the greatest blessing. 

for today, those are just a few things i am grateful for.  the point of this, i am so lucky to have these things in my life. every night, everyone should reflect on their day and think what they are grateful for. even on the bad days, we all have those, look back on your day and find the positive. be grateful for those people who gave you a smile, hug, cried with you, laughed with you, talked with you, etc..

that night my little bro, greg and i played with fireworks.. and thought it would be fun to take pics with sparklers. so we did! check 'em out :)

minimalist.

for those who do not know me... may not know my favorite type of photography.

MINIMALISM. 

this type of photography has always had my heart. 

why?

because i love the fact that you are able to make something so simple, yet so beautiful.

even if it is a fence or an old bench.

less = more. 

i love it!

this morning....

this morning i woke up with the feeling of the weight of the world on my shoulders.

all i wanted to do was to back to bed for the rest of the day. and ignore everything.

turn my phone off. take medicine to make my cyst stop hurting and the headache i woke up with. turn the lights off and fall back asleep.

but of course none of that happened. i needed to do something i haven't done in a few weeks.

that particular something is the ultimate therapy for me.

FLANEUR. that is a term i learned last semester from a teacher. it means to wander.

we did an exercise where we went and "flaneur"ed. took our cameras and shot everything and anything. holy cow. can i say relaxing or what??

this morning i decided i needed to get out of bed. i grabbed my camera.... and took pictures in my outside basement doorway thing.. it was yet so simple yet so beautiful. might i add that i didn't give a rats-a about how i looked.

--what can i say? i just woke up!

and let me just add.... that it turned my morning right around.
days like this make me so grateful for photography and the beauty of it.

 look how adorable my nephew is!!! i absolutely cannot get enough of him. i am so grateful and blessed to be an aunt. easily one of my favorite things in life. i love him so much!!

more photos to come.... my sister and i are in the process on working on a new photography blog and a watermark logo :) hooray!

final projects

okay i have been a complete failure about posting my final projects. these projects took over my life for at least a month. pretty sure i turned into a hermit while working on these... anyway... enjoy :)

(ps, these aren't all of them. i had at least 5 photos for each project. but here is just a glimpse!)

 this project was for my photo vision class. we had to photograph something that we absolutely love. and of course i chose to do it based on my nephew! oh boy, i just can't resist this little man!

 this one is for my photo 1 class. we had to have one theme. and that theme could be anything. so i decided to do it on my favorite style of photography. and that is minimalist! i love how you are able to make something so simple yet so beautiful.

last but not least, this one is for my photographing diversity class. obviously we had to photograph something that is diverse. and i did women doctors. so my amazing best friend who is pursuing to become a doctor helped me out with this one :)

so there are my final projects that i slaved over for a few weeks! they turned out just how i hoped they would. i was definitely please with the turn out and my grades!!!

can't wait for fall semester!
